O2 Where Art Thou Broadband

Much like Robinho’s refusal to return to Manchester City from international duty with Brazil or Stan Collymore’s walkout of Real Oviedo, whilst still under contract in 2001, my O2 home broadband service has repeatedly and consistently gone missing from action, resulting in ThreeMatchBan taking an unscheduled post-season break.

Having spent much of the past few days speaking to my new best friends (possible suggestion for socially inept socialite Paris Hilton, as she looks again for a new bbf!) at the O2 customer services centre, I have once again been assured that normal service will resume shortly, but…

If this feels like tempting fate then it couldn’t be as bad as Colombian coach, Francisco Maturana’s comments on the eve of the World Cup finals in 1994. “Through football we’re trying to show that Colombia is about more than cocaine, violence, terrorism and death”. Days later defender Andres Escobar was tragically shot dead after scoring an own goal that led to Colombia being knocked out of the competition.

On a lighter note; “I don’t mind if we pick up a few yellow cards. I’m looking for a team which fights. No more nicey-nicey football” said former Swindon player-manager Steve McMahon, before being sent off on his debut for elbowing a Southend player in 1994.
