Ronaldo leaving his mark on Manchester United fans
The big man appeared to be a bull-in-a-china-shop striker at first glance, but with lightning feet and a devastating shot he was anything but a big lad leading the line. His second spell in Spain was arguably less successful than his time with Barca, but he still had the magic stuff, as United found out to their cost in the 2003 Champions League quarter-final.
He may have announced his retirement today at the age of 34, having been a cumbersome heavyweight for a number of years, but here’s a reminder of him at his bullish best.

I remember Barthez being a decent shot stopper. Awful positioning for goal 1 and goal 3. OK, so Ronaldo hit them hard, but Barthez left the net wide open.
Bingham, you’re like the goalkeeping equivalent of Alan Hansen. Shaky positioning by Barthez, particularly for the first goal. Racist Atkinson agreed. I remember watching that game on TV and being amazed by Ronaldo’s overall performance. Great game and a great player.
